The turkey neck wrinkle is due to the laxity of the sternocleidomastoid muscle and the sliding down of the platysma muscle and its overlying skin.
The sternocleidomastoid muscle are those 2 muscle as seen from the view of the neck, 2 bands starting from the middle of the lower end of the neck, running upward and backward to the lower end of the earlobe, as clearly shown in the photos below. The platysma is a thin sheet of muscle that wraps over the entire of the neck, just below the skin, superficially located.
The face might be treated in a various way so as to mask the aging effects. However, the aging neck is much more difficult to mask. More often than not, the neck can reveals the truth about one’s age. This is because it is not as easy to treat the neck wrinkle as compared to the face.
