Niacinamide

Niacinamide is also called, vitamin B3,  nicotinamide, nicotinic acid amide, 3-pyridinecarboxamide or Vitamin PP. Niacinamide is a very safe compound for skin whitening. It is used as a topical application cream. It is applied over the skin or genitalia area for whitening. Niacinamide has no side effect. It is often used for the treatment of acne. It helps to increase the skin moisture and also helps to reduce the skin wrinkles.

The nicotinic acid, also called niacin, is converted into nocotinamde in vivo, that is inside the body. Although the two are similar in their functions, it must be noted that nicotinamide does not have the similar pharmacological profile and the toxic profile of niacin compound.

 

Nicotinamide do not cause side effect of flushing. However, nicotinamide in a very high dose such as 3 g per day, may become toxic to the liver, in an adult. Inside the cell niacin is incorporated into NAD, nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide and NADP. The NAD+ and NADP+ are the coenzymes that works in a variety if enzymatic reaction such as the oxidative-reduction reactions.

The commercial scale production of niacinamide and niacin, which run into thousands of tons in volume every year is through hydrolysis of nicotinonitrile.
